background

Branden Joy is an environmental engineer, explorer, and ultra-endurance athlete with a passion for exploring remote regions and understanding the effects of climate change on vulnerable communities. Over the past decade, he has traveled to nearly 30 countries, including extensive work and travel in the Arctic, Antarctic, and Himalayas, consulting in Bhutan for the monarchy, and supporting scientific endeavors at McMurdo Station in Antarctica.

As the founder of Sustainable Strides, Branden channels his education, experience, and determination into amplifying the voices of communities most affected by climate change. His work aims to support scientific research, provide real-time climate data, and empower these communities to actively engage in climate adaptation and mitigation.

Expeditions

Branden has completed expeditions across some of the world’s most remote regions, including his 2024 Greenland expedition, which served as the catalyst for creating Sustainable Strides. His expeditions, including climbing Lenin Peak (23,406’) in Kyrgyzstan and completing 50 and 100-mile ultramarathons and Ironman 140.6, have shaped his commitment to climate action and human resilience in extreme environments.

In addition to his adventurous spirit, Branden is a dedicated ultramarathon runner, having completed several 100-mile events, and a climber, with achievements including summiting tallest 50 peaks in Montana and completing a solo ski traverse of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks in winter.

synergy

His diverse experience allows him to approach challenges with a unique perspective, combining technical expertise, physical endurance, and a deep commitment to environmental sustainability. Through his work with Sustainable Strides, Branden continues to inspire and mobilize efforts to protect vulnerable ecosystems and advocate for meaningful climate action.
