History
“As an environmental engineer and polar explorer, I’ve seen firsthand the urgent need for collaborative solutions that honor local knowledge and adapt to extreme environments. Through storytelling, research, and action, I aim to inspire meaningful change and build a more sustainable, equitable future.”
global immersion
Over the past decade, Sustainable Strides' founder has traveled to nearly 30 countries, immersing himself in some of the world’s most climate-vulnerable regions, including the Arctic, Antarctic, and Himalayas. Since 2020, he has been designing and leading expeditions to some of the most remote areas on the planet. These journeys have not only provided firsthand exposure to the stark realities of a rapidly changing climate but have also fostered deep connections with the people who call these fragile landscapes home.
Turning point
The 2024 expedition in Qaanaaq, Greenland, marked a defining moment in this journey. Weeks spent traversing the vast, frozen expanse of the Arctic revealed the profound transformations underway—thinning ice sheets, shifting migration patterns, and centuries-old knowledge being challenged by forces beyond local control. Yet, amidst the uncertainty, there was resilience: hunters adapting to sustain their families, elders urgently passing down ancestral wisdom, and young people determined to preserve their heritage. It became clear that exploration alone was not enough; the responsibility to act was undeniable.
Action
Following the expedition in Qaanaaq, the realization emerged that education, passion, and experience must serve a greater purpose. This understanding became the foundation of Sustainable Strides, a nonprofit dedicated to storytelling, advocacy, and scientific research in the world’s most vulnerable regions. The organization was created to bridge the gap between adventure and action, ensuring that those most affected by climate change are not only heard but actively supported in shaping their own future.
Sustainable Strides is more than an exploration initiative; it is a platform for amplifying the voices of communities on the frontlines of climate change. By working alongside local populations and policymakers, the organization strives to identify solutions that honor tradition while fostering a sustainable future. In 2025, the conversation is no longer about whether climate change exists—it is about what can be done to help these communities not just survive, but thrive.
